Avoid Burnout With A CEO Schedule
Friend, burnout is NOT a pretty thing.
If you’re a biz owner, you probably know the signs of burnout because you’ve probablyyy experienced ’em at one point in time.
But just in case you’re unsure, here are some surefire signs that you’re on your way to burning out:
💥 You’re ALWAYS exhausted
💥 Taking care of yourself + focusing on your personal life feels like a waste of time
💥 You feel like everything you do is boring, pointless, or overwhelming
💥 You wake up assuming that you’ll have a bad day
It’s funny because most of us up + quit our day jobs to AVOID burnout.
And I’m sure all my corporate babies can agree that we did NOT leave a soul-sucking 9-5 to slave away 24/7. Right?
The tricky thing about owning a biz though is that burnout is always knocking at the door because running a biz requires that you give your all!
And yesssss, I absolutely LOVE my job + would rather work 10x harder building my own empire than supporting someone else’s dream. But, we’re human + humans need breaks.
One way to set boundaries that will help you avoid burnout + protect your life OUTSIDE of work is to create a CEO schedule!
Making a CEO schedule is a bad boss move that’ll help you find balance in your life when running your biz threatens to take over completely. 🔥
I’ve tried a BUNCH of different things to find the right balance that worked for me + here’s what I came up with:
🌟 Themed days where every day was meant for something specific (i.e. Mondays – marketing, Tuesdays/Thursdays – client-facing, Wednesdays – client work, Friday- admin + internal)
🌟 Time block scheduling where I schedule time in each day to work on something specific (ngl, I even schedule breaks + naps! 😂)
🌟 CEO day where I pick one day of the week to focus ONLY on my business
🌟 Optimized productivity sprints where I focus on work only for my optimal time of focus
What ended up working for me is a mashup of alllll the things. 🥰
Here’s what that looks like in practice:
💻 Monday + Friday are CEO Days. I have the freedom to work on client work, all things JOUHCO, + anything in between (with ZERO client calls!)
☕️ Tuesdays + Thursdays are client-facing days. These days, I’ll schedule my calls + dive deep into client work 👏🏽
Within the week, I utilize time blocking via Google calendar to give myself structure.
Andddd inside the time blocks, I practice optimized productivity sprints.
To figure out what length of optimized productivity sprint works for YOU:
➡️ Set a timer + zero in on work
➡️ The moment you lose focus or get distracted, stop the timer
Voila! You found the optimal amount of time you can be productive. 🤩
Use that to plan your workdays ahead of time so you KNOW you’ll get the job done on time + alleviate stress.
What’s most important is to do what works for you! Play with your CEO schedule (with intention!) until you find the best fit for your needs.
Remember, the goal is to avoid burnout! Not follow a formula if it doesn’t fit your lifestyle, needs, or goals. 🙈
Good luck, CEO friends! And happy scheduling!
